Automotive Dealer - new Skoda Laura RS prices in India ; The Czech automobile manufacturer, Skoda Auto India will be launching the the Skoda Laura RS in India on the 31st of August, 2011. The whole matter will be a low profile launch owing to the incessant rains that have hit Mumbai for the past couple of days.
Now, the Skoda Laura RS that will be launched in India is basically a souped up version of the Laura TSi petrol variant. The 200 Bhp, 2 liter turbo petrol engine will not be making it under the hood of the Skoda Laura RS, instead what we will be getting is the same 160 Bhp-250 Nm 1.8 Liter TSi engine that also does duty on the entry level Skoda Laura and the Skoda Superb. The transmission too will remain a six speed manual unit with no DSG gearbox on account of cutting down the price of the Laura RS.
The only major changes that we can expect from the Skoda Laura RS are cosmetic in nature. Visual candy on board the Laura RS include a full body kit replete with a spoiler on the bootlid and chromed exhaust tips to give the car that sporty appeal. The other changes to the car visually are the vRS badging on the grille upfront and on the bootlid. The fog lamps get LED treatment while the daytime running light sit just above the fog lamps.
Also, the 16 inch alloy wheels with a brand new 10 spoke design is the other visible change. An electric sun roof now makes it into the equation. Coming to the interiors of the Laura RS, an all black theme is what you get keeping with the sporty character of the car. Body hugging contoured front seats and leather wrapped steering wheel is what will keep the driving enthusiast happy while the metal accelerator, brake and clutch pedals add to the sporty intent of the car.
Safety features include ABS, ESP, Traction Control, Anti Slip Regulation(ASR), tyre pressure monitor and Electronic Differential Locking(EDL). However Skoda’s automatic climate control or as Skoda prefers to call it, the Climatronic system is dumped in favour of manual AC controls.
Expect the new Skoda Laura RS to be priced around Rs. 16-17 lakh. Stay tuned for more updates after the launch tomorrow.
