2012 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Wagon on us market ; Finally the Mercedes-Benz E63, also known as the ‘Estate’ in Europe, is coming back to the United States. This model will come to the country as a 2012 model, after being first revealed nearly two years ago.
The Mercedes-Benz E63 is powered by AMG’s new twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8 engine producing 518 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Although the power output of this new engine is less than that of the previous AMG 6.6 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, the new engine delivers 51 lb-ft torque more than the old one. The engine is mated with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7- speed Multiclutch Transmission (MCT). This advanced transmission system features a start-up clutch instead of the torque converter and has faster shift times.
Customers seeking even more performance can opt for an optional performance package, which boosts the power output to 550 hp and torque output to 590 lb-ft. The wagon is highly fuel efficient despite the high performance. The wagon features an innovative ECO stop-start system, which boosts the fuel economy. The wagon is yet to be rated by the EPA.
The wagon is fitted with several hi-tech safety and life saving features of the E-Class lineup. An innovative ATTENTION ASSIST system alerts the driver at the first sign of drowsiness with an audible ‘time for a rest’ message along with a coffee cup icon in the instrument cluster. A steering mounted sensor along with a smart software is used for this purpose. Other safety features include Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Night View Assist PLUS and 11 airbags.
Other standard features include a panoramic sun roof and a rear-view camera. With extensive AMG styling and detailing, this model promises to be a luxurious and impressive wagon.
