BMW 2012 X6 And 7 Series to Get Tri-Turbo Diesel Engine

Automotive Dealer - BMW 2012 X6 And 7 Series to Get Tri-Turbo Diesel Engine ; In 2012, the first generation BMW X6 will undergo a mid-cycle refresh. The upgraded version will get new visuals and design. But the biggest upgrade that will be incorporated in this model is the Tri-Turbo diesel engine.

The tri-turbo diesel engine will be an inline six-cylinder engine fitted with, of course, three turbochargers. This 3.0-liter engine has the capacity of producing around 400 hp. However, this engine will also provide superior fuel economy than other comparable diesel engine. The X6, which will be fitted with this hi-tech power plant has been dubbed as the BMW X6 xDrive50d. Other engine models in the X6 series will also be updated with improved engines, providing higher power and better fuel economy in this mid-cycle refresh. On the other hand, the second generation X6 will make its debut in 2014 and is internally coded as the F16.

The tri-turbo diesel engine will also power the face lifted 2012 7 series next year. The 750d is rumored to be introduced after the Frankfurt Auto Show this year. The car will also be offered with BMW’s all-wheel drive technology, x-drive and also a new, extended wheelbase version will also be available. This model is designated as the 750Ld.

The tri-turbo diesel engine promises to be an excellent upgrade, especially with the enhanced power and superior fuel economy. We will have to wait till March 2012 to see if the engine fulfills the promises it has made.
